Program Intern

Note: Now Hiring for Fall internships 2013. Fall 2013 Internship Dates: August 7th to October 29th, Application due by June 15th, 2013. A $100/week stipend provided; plus housing provided in a shared, co-ed bunkhouse in exchange for 8 hours work trade per month.
Description: The Program Internship will provide exposure to a wide range of adult and student field study programs that CFI conducts in the canyon country surrounding Moab, UT. Programs take place in National Parks, and on BLM land, State land, and Forest Service land.

Note: Job Filled Apprenticeship is offered mid March through late April (6 weeks) followed by continued employment as entry level Naturalist-Guide through contract season (end of October) with a 10 day furlough/break in July.
Description: This Apprentice training program is for outdoor educators who do not yet have river rafting/guiding skills and includes river rescue, vehicle and trailer handling (van and 4 wheel drive manual transmission), trip logistics, river and land based school program curriculum, Introduction to Colorado Plateau and more.

Description: The AmeriCorps Member will serve as Camp Cook/Caretaker for CFI’s outdoor education programs for the spring 2013 season. Camp Cook/Caretaker will live and work 90% of the time at Professor Valley Field Camp, which is a remote high desert field camp located amidst remarkable red-rock mesas about 25 miles outside Moab, UT.

Note: Job Filled We continually accept guest guide resumes for both land based and river programs.
Description: Professional guide with experience and Utah river guide license. During our season there are 3 weeks non paid furlough (2 weeks are scheduled July 17-31, 1 other week personal leave at your request and depending on work priorities.) This position is for those with previous CFI experience and current licenses. During the summer break you can visit family, hike in the mountains or do guest guide work locally in Moab.

Guest river guides should not apply unless they have a current Utah River Guide license, current medical certificates and be familiar with CFI stretches of river. Guest land tour guides should be well versed as "generalists" about the Colorado Plateau with expertise in one area: desert ecology, cultural history/anthropology or public lands issues and have current medical certificates. Our field season runs late March through end of October.
