Be a Summer Guide-in-Training for CFI’s Explorer Base Camp or our partnered summer camp with the Youth Garden Project this summer. The position is designed for teens who want to practice leadership skills and gain job experience. Earn a stipend of $100/week to join CFI Guides as we lead kids in 5th -8th grades through outdoor education programs. Apply today using the application below.
The Guide In Training will learn and practice:
- Leadership, risk management, and decision making skills
- Outdoor education techniques
- Mountain and desert ecology and natural history
- Basic trip logistics
- Camping and outdoor skills
Requirements and Application Process:
Teens must be entering 10th-12th grades. Complete Guide-In-Training Application online by June 1. Prospective candidates will be contacted for interviews by June 8. CFI will make final decisions by June 15.
Explorer Base Camp - Overnight camping at Warner Lake Campground in the La Sal Mountains. All tents, sleeping bags, food, and water is provided during the entirety of the program.
- Session I - July 9 - July 13
- Session II - July 16 - July 20
Youth Garden Partnering Summer Camps - Day camp programs that take place around Moab and the La Sal Mountains. Housing during this program is not provided for the Guide-in-Training. Lunch, snacks, and water are provided during this program.

- Wilderness Week - Aug 6 - Aug 10
