    Backcountry hiking with llama support in the Lizard Head Wilderness of Colorado

    Explore the headwaters of the Dolores River on the eastern edge of the Colorado Plateau. This trip is perfect for summer and takes place in the lovely high country of the Lizard Head Wilderness in the San Miguel Mountains section of the Colorado Rockies. Enjoy wildflower meadows, views of high peaks, an alpine lake, and waterfalls on day hikes from our base camp along the West Fork of the Dolores. We reach base camp just a four miles on the first day with llamas carrying our kitchen, food and camping gear. Our small congenial group led will be led by a CFI Naturalist and Redwood Llama wrangler who will share much about the natural and cultural history of the area. Have FUN hiking beautiful mountains, communing and reading in camp, and learn about llama packing if you choose.
